“10 Years, 10 Beards, $1 Million”
Brett has made an extraordinary difference at UPMC Children’s. Over 10 years, he has raised $1 million and we are so grateful for that. Truly, what he has done is connected Pittsburgh with UPMC Children’s and brought smiles to many patients here just by visiting and spending time with them. We are so grateful for that.”- Mark Sevco, President of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh
From UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh:
A dedication ceremony was held this evening at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh to recognize Brett Keisel for his “10 Years, 10 Beards, $1 Million” efforts through his annual Shear Da Beard fundraiser. The ceremony included an unveiling of a new mural commemorating Brett’s involvement with UPMC Children’s.
Brett Keisel has, for the past 10 years, hosted the annual Shear Da Beard event (“10 Years, 10 Beards, $1 Million”) which has benefitted UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Division of Hematology/Oncology. Over that period of time, $1 million has been raised to help our patients.
Each year, celebrity barbers have taken part in cutting off sections of Brett’s signature beard. This past year’s celebrity barbers included Ben Roethlisberger, Cam Heyward and James Harrison. The DVE Morning Show host Randy Baumann emceed the event.
In addition to hosting this annual fundraiser for UPMC Children’s, Brett has also come to the hospital numerous times over the years to visit the kids.
Also, you can still win iconic Shear Da Beard memorabilia in a final online auction!
